We have employed a Health and Well-being Lead Worker to work at LYCC across all projects. This worker’s primary role is to plan, co-ordinate and run a Children`s and young person’s Health, Well-being and Mental Health programme of activities and services. We envisage that this work will become imbedded into all our provision all year round. Our 5 night a week Youth Open Access programme for young people aged between 8 and 18 years and our HAF, Holiday Activity Fund, ran for vulnerable families whose children are entitled to free school meals and sees us providing positive activities and healthy meals during school holiday times along with Families are referred to it. The worker is collating formal and informal activities to encourage children and young people to discuss mental health and emotional well-being issues. The worker will also be working with all staff and volunteers to equip them with information and skills to engage children, young people, and families with the aim of preventing mental health problems, promoting positive health and well-being and will build on LYCC network of partners to both refer into the work or support us when deemed necessary. We will be using our ever-increasing partnerships to invite other groups children, young people, and staff to enjoy health and well-being activities and aim to open any training to other groups.
