Youth Provision
• Monday, 6:30pm-8:30pm = Year 9 plus – OPEN ACCESS
LYCC provide experienced, qualified youth workers and volunteers who directly work with young people, establishing positive relationships and encouraging their participation on learning programmes offering support and guidance to develop their social education. Staff use sports, ICT, projects health and wellbeing information and trips to engage young people. Open access.
(Cost 50p per session, per young person)
• Tuesday, 6:30pm-8:30pm = Targeted; Peer Education / Awards Evening / Volunteer Night (all ages)
LYCC offer young volunteers’ advice, support, and training. The Tuesday night session is a social session as much as it gives them the time and space to meet as a group, cook their own tea, and discuss issues affecting them, either personally or due to their volunteering at the centre.
It is also used as a training night and as in the past a night when they can be involved in applying for grants. Staff also offer specific, targeted projects for this night. Such as the development of the LYCC Awards – where volunteers work towards a Bronze, Silver and Gold award based on volunteering, skills development, and training.
• Wednesday, 6:30pm-8:30pm = Year 5 & 6 plus – OPEN ACCESS
LYCC offer juniors / under 13’s the chance of attending open access youth sessions. This session offers many their first taste of independence. The session also sees young volunteers (aged 14plus) supporting staff and becoming positive role models to younger children. Sports, games, ICT, projects, healthy cooking and arts and crafts are all on offer during these sessions, with trips and residentials also planned. Again, with LYCC providing experience, qualified youth workers and volunteers who work directly with young people.

• Thursday, 6:30pm-8:30pm = Year 7 – OPEN ACCESS

• Saturday, 10am-12pm = Under 10’s Year 4 & 5 (age 8-10yrs) – OPEN ACCESS
LYCC offer an opportunity for Under 10’s to attend an open access youth session. This session offers many their first taste of independence and their first interactions with LYCC. The session also sees young volunteers supporting staff and becoming positive role models to younger children. Sports, games, ICT, projects, healthy cooking and arts and crafts are all on offer during these sessions, with trips and residentials also planned. Again, with LYCC providing experience, qualified youth workers and volunteers who work directly with young people.
(Cost 50p per session, per young person)
All open access youth sessions have an entry fee / subs of 50p with a tuck shop available during the sessions where treats and healthy food and refreshments can be purchased – prices ranging from 10p-£2.
All youth sessions address the ever-changing local needs and issues especially in terms to local gun, gang and knife crime issues in relation to our VRP funding. Staff work with children, young people and families to identify current issues and need along with partner organisations and other professionals.
Funded by Sefton MBC, VRP, Community Fund and other external funders.
