In-Trust Merseyside
There are many myths surrounding the issues of transgender and intersex men and women. Many transgender people face a lack of awareness, discrimination, issues with employment and issues around service delivery. Many people experience feelings of isolation.
In Trust was established from Sefton in 2006 and now operates across Merseyside to:
-Provide support and guidance for men and women with an intersex or transgendered history
-Provide a safe place to explore and express personal gender identity, providing advice and support with transitioning
-Combating transphobia, promoting gender acceptance, and rights for all 'trans' people
-Positively promoting best employment practice
-Working with both voluntary and statutory agencies to identify the barriers to employment and service delivery faced by the community
Services include:
For organisations:
-Transgender equality training
-Rainbow Lives
-LGBT Cultural Competency training
-Hate Crime Training
-Support and guidance to public sector on Equalities Impact assessment, engagement and consultation
-Navajo Quality Mark
For individuals:
-Advice and guidance
-Volunteer employment projects
-Pastoral Support
-Transhealth Merseyside in partnership with Sahir House
- Network which meets first Saturday of every month at SING Plus Centre, 53 Cambridge Road, Seaforth, Liverpool, L21 1EX.
There are changing facilities available and the venue is fully accessible for those with impaired mobility.
