BME Community Development Project

Sefton CVS's Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Community Development Project works in partnership with others to tackle discrimination and inequalities in the way health and social care services are delivered.

The main aim of the project, therefore, is to improve access to mainstream health and wellbeing services for Black and Minority Ethnic communities and other under-represented groups within the borough of Sefton and; to tackle stigma associated with mental health by raising mental health literacy among employees and residents. To this end we facilitate, undertake and deliver a number of activities and initiatives in partnership within the local community. These include:

The delivery of training/workshops:

– Mental Health and Debt
– Equality and Diversity
– Disability Awareness
– Hate Crime Training
– Cultural Competency Awareness
– Mental Health First Aid

The project also facilitates engagement and consultation with the BME community which feeds issues and concerns arising from local communities into the borough-wide strategic decision making partnership groups.
