Organisation and Services

Counselling
We provide a free counselling service for women in Sefton. Once you contact us we will arrange for you to see a Counsellor within the week to discuss your needs. If you and the Counsellor feel that service would be helpful for you, you will be able to access up to 12 weeks counselling. You will meet with the same Counsellor at the same time every week.
The aim is to help you understand yourself and your difficulties better and enable you to gain greater control over your life. A counsellor can help you consider your options but will not give you advice or tell you what to do.
People come for counselling for many reasons but often because they feel depressed or worried about things that have happened to them. Sometimes they feel anxious about the present or the future. Problems may be related to home, work, relationships or life in general.
Confidentiality:
Our counsellors work according to the ethical and confidentiality standards of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. What you say will not be passed on to anyone else without your consent unless you disclose child abuse, terrorist activities or money laundering.
How to access counselling at SWAN:
SWAN provides counselling for women aged 18 or over, who live in the Sefton area. There is no charge for counselling. If you think counselling might help you, phone or call into SWAN and we will arrange a time for you to come and talk to one of our counsellors.
