Mencap Liverpool & Sefton is a local, independent charity that promotes equality for people with a learning disability - helping them to discover new opportunities, make new friends, and feel valued and safe in their community.
We are proud to be the local voice of learning disability in Liverpool & Sefton. We are a local charity who share the same vision, mission and values as national Mencap but we are independently run and focus our work and support entirely on people living locally.
As we do not receive any funding from national Mencap, our work is almost entirely funded by contributions from charitable trusts, legacies and donations – and kind-hearted donations from the general public.
Here are just a few examples of how your donations are changing the lives of people with a learning disability and their carers:
• Approximately 60 people are currently receiving crisis support on an individual basis.
• 150 people annually are signposted to relevant help or activities through phone, email or face to face contact.
• Approximately 65 people regularly attend our social activities, supporting the development of confidence and self esteem.
