Formby CVS
Charitable Company Ltd by Guarantee
Charity number: 1051984
Formby Council for Voluntary Service (Charity No. 1051984)
provides Formby Luncheon Club which is a thriving member’s club for the over 60’s.
The Club originally started in 1965 using Holy Trinity hall, occupying the present purpose-built premises in 1968. Thus it has operated continuously for over 50 years
The club is managed by a committee elected by the members which consists of a cross section of members and volunteers
Annual activities include Christmas lunches, parties and fund-raising Breakfast Breaks. The Breakfast Breaks are also open to the public
Members (annual fee £5) are served a two course lunch (£3.50) with tea or coffee on Tuesday to Friday, lunch being served at 12.15 pm. Food is prepared by volunteers and most of the food is cooked on the premises. Team Leaders are required to take a Food Hygiene Course and volunteers are also encouraged to do so. Sefton Council currently has awarded the club Level 5 for hygiene and food safety standards.
Members book and pay for their meals in advance which enables the management to check up on the health of non-arrivals. Booking is on a first come, first served basis as the Club’s dining room has space for a maximum of 60 people per day
Transport is available for club members at a small cost per day to anyone requiring assistance to get to the Club (Tel. No. 01704 877311)
So, if you want a good meal, good company and a break from your home surroundings, give the Luncheon Club a try – you can be assured of a warm welcome
