Transition in Southport works to strengthen the local community to enable it to cope with climate change and the end of cheap oil. Some communities like Southport have become known as Transition Towns. This is an indication they are making a transition away from fossil fuel energy. Transition Towns have started projects to look at home energy efficiency, local transport, grow your own, local food initiatives and have shared skills or ideas
