Course Outline: A legal requirement of the Equality Act is for organisations to remove barriers to services and prevent discrimination and foster good relations. Whilst we are not covered by the public sector equality duties we are however covered by the general duties of the equality Act. Equality Impact Assessments or EIAs for short are a way to embed equality & diversity within our policies and procedures. EIAs can help to identify direct and indirect discrimination and make sure that individuals and team members think carefully about the impact of their work on service users and other staff and take appropriate action to improve services, thus avoiding any breach of the equality Act.
