Mental Health First Aid is the help you give to someone developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. Mental health first aid enables MHFAiders to give this form of first aid until the person has received appropriate professional treatment or the crisis is resolved.
Mental health first aid can help people experiencing from depression, anxiety disorders, gambling and substance use problems.
It can also help if a person is experiencing a mental health crisis, such as: Suicidal thoughts, panic attacks and self- harm.
One in 4 UK adults experiences a mental health problem in any given year. That means every person is likely to know someone who is experiencing a mental health problem, whether it is a family member, a friend or colleague. In fact, mental illness is now said to affect every UK person either directly or indirectly.
Early intervention in mental health problems can lead to recovery and positive outcomes.
Please note there is a £50 fee per person for this training course.
MHFA is considered essential in every work place, this course should not be confused with the accredited MHFA England two day course. This training will give you the tools required to assist someone in a crisis situation and prevent a worsening of a mental health condition and aid recovery. A certificate of attendance is presented to those that complete the two full days. This certificate is not transferable and only valid for your current place of work and not intended to replace any MHFA accreditation but confirms that you have attended a two day be-spoke MHFA course. The course is facilitated by Robert Brennan who was an award winning MHFA England accredited trainer for 13 years.
